Bamako, Mali – (African Boulevard News) – Despite a disappointing loss to the Atlas Cubs in the semi-final of the TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Mali’s head coach Soumaila Coulibaly is now focusing on the bronze medal match. The young Eagles lost 6-5 to Morocco in the semi-final, but they are determined to secure a podium finish at the competition.

Mali had an impressive run in the tournament, winning their group with seven points from three matches. They defeated Mauritania, Tunisia, and Ghana to top the group, before losing to Morocco in the knockout stage. Despite the setback, Coulibaly remains proud of his players and their efforts throughout the tournament.

“The boys gave their all on the pitch, but we couldn’t break down Morocco’s defense,” said Coulibaly. “It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but we have to move on and focus on the bronze medal match. We want to end the tournament on a high note and make our fans proud.”

Mali will face the loser of the second semi-final between Ivory Coast and Morocco in the bronze medal match. The match will take place on Sunday, 3 April, at the Stade Modibo Keita in Bamako. Coulibaly is confident that his team can bounce back and finish the tournament on a positive note.

“We have to put the loss behind us and focus on the next match,” said Coulibaly. “We have a talented team and we can still achieve great things at this tournament. We want to win the bronze medal and show the world what Malian football is all about.”

The TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations has been a showcase of African football talent, with young players from across the continent displaying their skills and potential on the pitch. The tournament is part of the Confederation of African Football’s efforts to develop youth football and identify future stars of the game.

As Mali prepare for the bronze medal match, their fans will be hoping for a strong performance from their team. The young Eagles have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with and they will be determined to finish the tournament on a high note.
