Accra, Ghana – (African Boulevard News) – In a historic development, the World Amputee Football Federation(WAFF) has lifted the ban on Ghana’s participation in all amputee football activities. The decision came at the Extraordinary Congress on April 29, where the Black Wonders were readmitted into the league. This move marks a significant moment for amputee football in Ghana and the continent as a whole.

The Black Wonders were suspended by WAFF in 2019 due to a leadership crisis that emerged in the Ghana Amputee Football Association (GAFA). The suspension resulted in the team being excluded from participating in the Amputee Football Africa Cup of Nations and the World Amputee Football Championship. The ban, which lasted for over two years, served as a massive setback for the team as well as the entire amputee football community in Ghana.

The lifting of the ban has been received with great joy by the Ghana Amputee Football Association, which expressed gratitude to the World Amputee Football Federation for the decision. “We are grateful to WAFF for lifting the ban on our participation in international tournaments. Our players can now showcase their talent on the global stage and compete with other nations,” said Prince Mensah, Secretary-General of GAFA.

The readmission of the Black Wonders into the WAFF will boost the growth and development of amputee football in Ghana, which has been on the rise in recent years. The team has been undergoing intensive training and preparations, and this decision will serve as a significant morale booster for their upcoming competitions.

This positive development will also benefit the African continent, which has been pushing for more recognition and support for amputee football. The Black Wonders’ participation in competitions will expose more people to the sport and inspire other nations to invest in the sport.

“We are excited about the readmission of the Black Wonders into WAFF. This decision will contribute to the growth and development of amputee football in Ghana and the continent. It is inspiring to see the team back on the field and ready to compete,” said Wale Adenuga, a football analyst.

In conclusion, the lifting of the ban on the Black Wonders is a significant milestone for amputee football in Ghana and Africa. The team’s return to the international stage will inspire other African nations to invest in the sport and promote its growth. The decision by WAFF to readmit the Black Wonders is a testament to the dedication and commitment of GAFA towards the development of amputee football in Ghana.
