Cairo, Egypt – (African Boulevard News) – Marumo Gallants has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the TotalEneriges CAF Confederation Cup after a tenacious 1-0 win against the Pyramids of Egypt in the second-leg quarter-finals match at the Royal stadium.

The South African team faced a difficult challenge, having lost the first leg 2-1 against the Egyptian team, but their determination and hard work paid dividends in the second leg. With this win, the Marumo Gallants became the first South African team to reach the semi-finals of the TotalEneriges CAF Confederation Cup.

The match was a nail-biter with both teams showcasing their skills and experience to oust each other. Marumo Gallants opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Mokoena received a pass on the edge of the box and fired a powerful shot into the far corner of the net, leaving Pyramids’ goalkeeper with no chance.

Pyramids tried their best to equalize but were unable to penetrate the Marumo Gallants’ defense. The South African team held their ground and put in a solid defensive display, thwarting Pyramids’ attempts to score. In the end, Marumo Gallants held on to the narrow lead and secured their place in the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup.

The Marumo Gallants coach, Sebastien Migne, expressed his joy after the victory and praised his team’s efforts. He said, “I am proud of the boys, they worked hard and deserved to win. We played against a tough opponent, but we showed that we can compete at this level.”

On the other hand, Pyramids coach, Rodolfo Arruabarrena, was disappointed with the result and his team’s performance. He said, “We played well, but we did not take our chances. Marumo Gallants defended well, and we could not break them down. It is a disappointing result for us, but we will come back stronger next time.”

Marumo Gallants will now face the Moroccan team, Raja Casablanca, in the semi-finals of the TotalEneriges CAF Confederation Cup. The first leg will take place on the 19th of September, and the second leg will take place on the 3rd of October.

In conclusion, Marumo Gallants’ victory over Pyramids in the quarter-finals of the TotalEneriges CAF Confederation Cup is a historic achievement for the South African team. With their solid defense and tenacity, Marumo Gallants showed that they can compete at the highest level. This win has not only boosted their confidence but has also put South Africa on the map in African football.
