Kigali, Rwanda – (African Boulevard News) – The East African Force deployed to the Democratic Republic of Congo to quell the rebels in the restive eastern part of the country has failed to achieve its mandate. The force faces accusations of being too soft and refusing to confront the rebels, whom Kinshasa asserts are backed by neighboring Rwanda. Commanded by a Kenyan General, the force finds itself in a quagmire as the rebels continue to wreak havoc on innocent civilians.

According to reports, the force has failed to neutralize the rebel groups that have been terrorizing the eastern DRC regions for years. The UN-backed force comprises troops from Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan, but it seems the rebels have outsmarted the forces. The rebels have continued to carry out attacks on innocent people and also carried out illegal mining and logging activities.

“The East African Force was tasked with the responsibility of bringing peace and stability to the eastern DRC region. However, it seems the force has failed to achieve its mandate. The rebels have continued to carry out attacks, and it’s quite unfortunate that innocent civilians are bearing the brunt of the violence,” noted an analyst.

The force has been accused of being too soft, and some quarters have called for a more aggressive approach towards the rebels. The Congolese government accuses neighboring Rwanda of backing the rebel groups, an allegation that Kigali has dismissed. Several security reports indicate that rebel groups are getting financial and logistical support from Rwanda, which complicates the situation even further.

“Rwanda has always denied supporting the rebels, but we have seen evidence that suggests otherwise. There are reports of Rwandan soldiers fighting alongside the rebels, and this is unacceptable,” added the analyst.

The situation in the eastern DRC remains dire, and the East African Force’s failure to neutralize the rebels will prolong the suffering of innocent civilians. The UN and other international organizations must act swiftly to resolve the crisis and bring long-lasting peace to the region.

In conclusion, the East African Force’s failure to quell the rebels in the eastern DRC region is a significant setback to the region’s peace and stability. The force must adopt a more aggressive approach towards the rebels to bring long-lasting peace to the region. The Congolese government, Rwanda, and international organizations must work together to end the crisis, which has caused untold suffering to innocent civilians.
