Dodoma, Tanzania – (African Boulevard News) – In a thrilling match, Young Africans FC held on to their first-leg advantage to qualify for the semifinals of the TotalEneriges CAF Confederation Cup. Despite being held to a goalless draw in the second leg by Nigeria’s Rivers United, the Tanzanian club advanced on away goals, having won the first leg 1-0.

The game began with Young Africans showing intent, pushing forward to create early chances. However, Rivers United put up a solid defense, with goalkeeper Ospina Egbe making several crucial saves. The Tanzanian club dominated possession, but failed to convert their numerous chances into goals.

In the second half, Rivers United increased their intensity and put pressure on Young Africans, but the hosts’ defense stood firm. Despite the Nigerian club’s best efforts, they were unable to score, and the game ended in a goalless draw.

Speaking after the match, Young Africans coach, Zlatko Krmpotic, praised his team’s performance, adding that they deserved to qualify for the semifinals. He said, “We knew it was going to be a tough match, but our players gave their all and got the result we wanted. I am proud of them.”

Rivers United coach, Stanley Eguma, expressed disappointment at his team’s failure to score, saying, “We created some good chances, but we couldn’t score. It’s frustrating, but we have to accept the result and focus on our next game.”

Young Africans will now face fellow Tanzanian club, Azam FC, in the semifinals, while Moroccan club, RS Berkane, take on Pyramids FC of Egypt.

The Confederation Cup is the second-tier club competition in Africa, featuring teams from across the continent. The winner of the competition qualifies for the CAF Super Cup against the winner of the Champions League.

In conclusion, Young Africans FC’s qualification for the semifinals of the TotalEneriges CAF Confederation Cup is a testament to their resilience and determination. The Tanzanian club will look to build on this result and book their place in the final.
