The President announced on Monday the appointment of new heads of the army and security agencies in Nigeria, just three weeks after his inauguration as the President of the most populous country in Africa.

The President’s decision to restructure the security apparatus has received widespread support from security experts and stakeholders in Nigeria. Mr. Cheta Nwanze, a security analyst, said, “It is a welcome development. The new heads are experienced officers who have served in various capacities and have a good understanding of the security challenges in Nigeria.”
