Abuja, Nigeria – (African Boulevard News) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been accused of paying lip service to affirmative action by a civil rights advocacy group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA). According to the group, the APC leadership and President-elect are not doing enough to implement affirmative action policies that promote the rights of women, youths, and people with disabilities.

Affirmative action is a set of policies aimed at providing equal opportunities and access to resources for marginalized groups, such as women, youths, and people with disabilities. These policies are crucial for promoting inclusivity, reducing inequality, and creating a fairer society.

In a statement issued yesterday, HURIWA accused the APC leadership and President-elect of failing to uphold affirmative action policies. The group argued that despite making promises to promote the rights of marginalized groups during the election campaign, the APC has not taken any concrete steps to implement these policies.

“The APC is paying lip service to affirmative action. They made promises to promote the rights of marginalized groups during the election campaign, but they have not done anything concrete to implement these policies. This is unacceptable,” said HURIWA.

The group also warned that failure to implement affirmative action policies could have serious consequences for Nigeria’s development and stability. “Affirmative action policies are crucial for promoting inclusivity and reducing inequality. Failure to implement these policies could lead to social unrest and instability,” added HURIWA.

HURIWA called on the APC leadership and President-elect to take immediate steps to implement affirmative action policies. The group suggested that the APC should appoint more women, youths, and people with disabilities into key positions in government and the private sector.

In conclusion, HURIWA’s accusations that the APC is paying lip service to affirmative action policies are serious and should be taken seriously. Affirmative action policies are crucial for promoting inclusivity, reducing inequality, and creating a fairer society. The APC leadership and President-elect must take immediate steps to implement these policies to ensure Nigeria’s development and stability.
