Rabat, Morocco – (African Boulevard News) – After a hiatus of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Nomads Festival has finally returned to the southeast desert of Morocco. Celebrating the rich culture and traditions of the nomadic tribes, the event drew a large crowd of local and international visitors eager to experience the unique atmosphere and heritage of the region.

The festival, which was originally launched in 2005, has become a cornerstone of Morocco’s cultural scene, attracting participants from across the country and beyond. It features a variety of activities and events, ranging from traditional music and dance performances to artisanal exhibitions and camel races, showcasing the diverse talents and skills of the nomadic communities.

According to Fatima Zahra, the director of the festival, this year’s edition represents a landmark in the history of the event, as it marks a return to normalcy after the challenging period of the pandemic. “We are thrilled to be back and celebrate our culture with our fellow Moroccans and friends from around the world. The Nomads Festival is not just a show, it’s a way of life, a tribute to our ancestors and a symbol of our resilience and strength,” she said.

The festival also provides an opportunity for the nomadic tribes to showcase their products and handicrafts, from leather goods and textiles to silverware and pottery. Many of the items are made using traditional techniques and materials, reflecting the centuries-old heritage and ingenuity of the nomads.

For the local authorities, the festival is a boost to the economy and the tourism sector, providing jobs and income for the communities and attracting visitors from different countries. The organizers have taken strict measures to ensure the safety of the participants and the compliance with the health regulations, including the use of masks and the provision of hand sanitizers.

“We are delighted to see the return of the Nomads Festival, which has a special place in the hearts and minds of the Moroccan people. This event is a true celebration of diversity and cultural exchange, and we are proud to host it in our country,” said a local official.

The Nomads Festival is expected to continue to grow and evolve in the coming years, as more people discover the beauty and richness of the Moroccan desert and its nomadic traditions. For those who missed this year’s edition, the next one will be held in May 2024. It’s an event not to be missed.
