Accra, Ghana – (African Boulevard News) – Hasaacas Ladies emerged as Southern Zone Champions of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League after a hard-fought victory over Faith Ladies. Fatoumata Tamboura’s lone strike proved to be the decisive moment of the game, as Hasaacas Ladies held on to secure a 1-0 win.
The game started at a high tempo, with both teams showing their intent on the field. However, it was Hasaacas Ladies who had the better start to the game, as they created a series of early chances. It wasn’t until the 35th minute that they finally broke the deadlock, with Tamboura finishing calmly after a slick passing move.
Faith Ladies tried to respond immediately, but they found the Hasaacas defence well organised and difficult to break down. The game became more physical as it progressed, with both teams battling for every ball. Hasaacas Ladies held on to their slender lead until the final whistle, with their defence remaining resolute in the face of several late Faith Ladies attacks.
The victory means that Hasaacas Ladies have secured a place in the grand final of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, where they will face the winner of the Northern Zone. The team will be hoping to lift the trophy for the second time in their history after winning it in 2018.
Speaking after the match, Hasaacas Ladies head coach, Yusif Basigi, expressed his delight at his team’s performance. He praised their fighting spirit and resilience, saying, “We knew this was going to be a tough game, and the players showed great character to come out on top. I’m proud of them.”
Faith Ladies head coach, Robert Eshun, also praised his team’s efforts despite the defeat. He said, “It wasn’t the result we wanted, but I’m proud of my players. They gave everything on the field, and we can hold our heads up high.”
