The trial of several individuals accused of involvement in the murder of Martinez Zogo has begun at the Cameroon Military Tribunal.
Background
Martinez Zogo, a well-known Journalist and head of a Radio Station in Cameroon, was murdered in January 2023. His death shocked the country and led to widespread calls for justice.
The Accused
Several individuals have been accused of involvement in the murder of Martinez Zogo. These include Amougou Belinga, a shrewd business man accused of traffic of influence; Laurent Esso, the Minister of Justice and Colonel Raymond Thomas Etoundi Nsoe, a former Commander in the Presidential Guard of President Paul Biya.
The Trial
The trial of the accused began on 2/14. The proceedings are being held at the Cameroon Military Tribunal in Yaounde.
The trial is expected to last for a couple months. During the trial, the prosecution will present evidence and call witnesses to testify. The defense will have the opportunity to cross-examine witnesses and present their own evidence.
