    Algiers, Algeria – (African Boulevard News) – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations Algeria 2023 officially launched the tournament with a press conference on Friday. With only 24 hours to go before the opening ceremony, the conference provided information about the tournament, which will run from July 1-17, 2023.

    The press conference was held in the Algerian capital of Algiers, with officials from CAF, the LOC, and TotalEnergies in attendance. The officials praised the efforts made by Algeria to prepare for the tournament and highlighted the importance of the event for the development of young footballers across the continent.

    CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed his gratitude towards the Algerian government and the LOC for their support in organizing the tournament, stating, “CAF is excited to be launching the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria, a country rich in footballing heritage. This tournament is a unique opportunity for Africa’s young players to showcase their talents and develop their skills.”

    The TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations is a biennial tournament that was first established in 1995. The competition brings together the top U17 teams from across the continent to compete for the title of African champions.     The LOC president, Djamel Belmadi, said, “Algeria is proud to host the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations. We have been working hard to ensure that everything is in place for the tournament, and we are confident that it will be a great success.”

    The tournament is set to take place in three Algerian cities, namely Algiers, Oran, and Constantine. The opening match will be played on July 1st, 2023, at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida. The final will be held on July 17th, 2023, at the Stade Ahmed Zabana in Oran.
