Algiers, Algeria – (African Boulevard News) – Senegal’s Head Coach Saliou Dia has credited the team’s perfect tactical execution for their 3-0 victory over Algeria in their second Group B match at the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Senegal team opened the scoring after a successful penalty kick in the first half and managed to double their lead with a stunning shot from forward Amadou Ndiaye. The final goal came from a well-placed corner kick headed into the goal by Souleymane Faye in the 77th minute, securing their second victory in the tournament.

Dia said in a post-match interview, “We had a game plan, and the boys executed it perfectly. We knew Algeria was a tough team, but we had to play smartly and use our strengths to our advantage.”

Senegal’s coach also highlighted the team’s defensive play, which kept Algeria from scoring throughout the match. The players showed an impressive level of discipline and organization, effectively blocking Algeria’s advances and minimizing the threats they posed.

“We’ve been working on our defensive strategies, and it was great to see them come to fruition,” Dia said.

Senegal’s win over Algeria has now put them at the top of Group B, with six points and a +5 goal difference. The team’s next match is against Tanzania, who lost their second match in the tournament to Ivory Coast.

Dia emphasized that despite their current lead in the group, Senegal needs to remain focused and take each match as it comes.

“We’re taking it step by step, and we know that every match is going to be a challenge. But we’re confident in our abilities and will continue to work hard to achieve our goals,” he said.

The TotalEnergies U17 AFCON has been an exciting tournament so far, showcasing the best young talent from across the continent. With the knockout stage looming, every team will be looking to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.

Overall, Senegal’s victory over Algeria was a testament to their skill and determination. With two wins under their belt, the team is proving to be a formidable force in the tournament, and one to watch in the coming matches.
