Diaspora, Africa – (African Boulevard News) – In what was a thrilling encounter, Asec Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire secured a place in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup after a convincing 2-0 win over US Monastir in the second-leg of the quarter-finals at Stade. The match was a high-stakes affair, with both teams fighting tooth and nail to progress to the next round of the tournament.

The game started on a high note, with Asec Mimosas showing their attacking prowess early on. They created several chances in the opening minutes of the match, but were unable to capitalize on them. US Monastir, on the other hand, looked to play on the counter-attack, hoping to catch Asec Mimosas on the break.

Despite Monastir’s best efforts, Asec Mimosas broke the deadlock in the 37th minute of the match through a goal from Zouzou. The Ivorian striker was played through on goal, and he calmly slotted the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper to give Asec Mimosas the lead.

In the second half, US Monastir looked to come back into the game, but Asec Mimosas were resolute at the back, and they kept the Tunisian side at bay. Asec Mimosas doubled their lead in the 75th minute, with another goal from a player named Zouzoua. The goal effectively sealed the win for Asec Mimosas, and they progressed to the semi-finals of the competition.

Speaking after the match, Asec Mimosas coach, Julio Cesar, expressed his delight at the team’s performance. He praised his players for their hard work, and said that they deserved to progress to the next round of the tournament.

“We knew that this was going to be a tough game, and we prepared well for it. The players showed great character and determination, and I’m proud of them for securing a place in the semi-finals. We’ll take things one game at a time, and we’ll see how far we can go in this competition,” he said.

The win is a major boost for Asec Mimosas, who are looking to win their first African title in over two decades. They’ll face off against either Raja Casablanca of Morocco or Orlando Pirates of South Africa in the semi-finals, and they’ll be hoping to progress to the final of the competition.
