Bamako, Mali – (African Boulevard News) – In a significant development, Mali’s Colonel Assimi Goïta rejoiced after discussing security and economic relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The news was confirmed by the leaders’ respective offices on Wednesday.

The conversation between Putin and Goïta took place on Tuesday evening and was centered around promoting security and economic cooperation between the two countries. This discussion was also aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and promoting joint ventures in various sectors.

The junta leader Goïta expressed his gratitude to Putin for extending a helping hand to Mali amidst the political crisis, economic instability, and security threats faced by the West African country.

“I am very happy to have spoken with President Putin. It is a new page in the history of Mali and Russia. I thank him for his support in the fight against terrorism. We also talked about the economy, and I think that cooperation between our two countries in this area will be very beneficial,” said Goïta.

This dialogue between Mali and Russia reflects a necessary effort in promoting global cooperation and solidarity in a world that is struggling with enormities of conflicts and crises.

With the inclusion of Russia and Mali in BRICS, the possibility of an unprecedented growth potential in various sectors can be realigned in the future. This discussion marks a necessary step towards a total reconfiguration of Mali’s economy, where dependence on former colonial powers can be gradually shifted.

As Col. Goïta looks forward to diversifying Mali’s economic partnerships and promoting inclusive economic development in the country, Putin has shown a keen interest in exploring further possibilities in areas like energy, agriculture, and infrastructure development.

As Africa remains an attractive investment destination for foreign powers, it is imperative for Mali to focus on strengthening economic ties with countries beyond traditional partners and promoting mutually beneficial trade and investment arrangements.
