Yaounde, Cameroon – February 28 – (African Boulevard News) The Social Democratic Front (SDF), a political party spearheaded by the formidable opposition leader Ni John Fru Ndi, who was once the primary rival of Paul Biya, is currently embroiled in a tumultuous state. On the 25th of February, the party expelled 34 of its executives, including MP Jean-Michel Nintcheu, following their criticism of Ni John Fru Ndi’s financial management and other perceived authoritarian excesses.

The accusations and criticisms mainly center around the misappropriation of the SDF’s finances, with whispers of embezzlement and corruption. Moreover, some members of the party believe that its political stance is too similar to those in power. The expulsion of the 34 executives has also brought to light the question of who will succeed Ni John Fru Ndi as the party leader, with numerous observers surmising that he has already anointed his preferred successor, Joshua Osih, the party’s vice-president.

The dismissal of Jean-Michel Nintcheu, the former regional president of the SDF for the coast and one of the most influential figures in the Cameroonian opposition, has caused a stir and cast doubts on the future of the party. It remains to be seen if Ni John Fru Ndi’s actions will suffice to allay the criticism and guarantee a smooth transition of power.
