Dakar, Senegal – (African Boulevard News) – The families of the victims of recent violent clashes in Senegal are demanding justice for their loved ones. The violence erupted during pro-opposition protests on June 1st which resulted in at least 23 deaths.

The families are seeking accountability for the killing of their loved ones, including a thorough investigation to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the deaths. The families also want the government to take measures to prevent future outbreaks of violence.

One of the victims’ families, Oumar Ba, spoke to African Boulevard News about the need for justice. “My brother was a peaceful protester. He went out to make his voice heard and was met with violence. We need to know who is responsible for his death and see them brought to justice,” Ba said.

The violence broke out following the arrest of Senegal’s opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko, in March. His supporters accused the government of politically motivated charges, leading to protests that turned violent in early June.

Human rights groups and political analysts have condemned the violence, calling for an end to political persecution and an independent investigation into the deaths.

“The government must be held accountable for the violence that occurred during the protests. The families of the victims deserve justice. We call on the government to ensure that those responsible for the killings are held accountable, and that measures are put in place to prevent future outbreaks of violence,” said Amnesty International’s West and Central Africa Director, Samira Daoud.

The Senegalese government has promised to investigate the violence and bring those responsible to justice. However, some critics have expressed skepticism, citing the government’s history of impunity around cases of violence against demonstrators.

The families of the victims say they will continue to push for justice until they see accountability for the deaths of their loved ones.

In conclusion, families of the victims of violence in Senegal are demanding justice for their loved ones. The families are seeking accountability for the killing of their loved ones, including a thorough investigation to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the deaths.
