Abuja, Nigeria – (African Boulevard News) – Guinness World Records has officially confirmed that Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, has set a new record for the longest individual cooking marathon. Baci cooked non-stop for 210 hours, which is equivalent to about eight and a half days. The record was broken at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, in front of a cheering crowd.

The previous record was held by Rickey Lumpkin, who cooked for 200 hours and 30 minutes in 2018. Baci surpassed Lumpkin’s record by cooking continuously from Monday, June 5, 2023, at 6:30 am, until Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 12:30 pm.

After a thorough examination of all the evidence, Guinness World Records confirmed that Hilda Baci had officially broken the record for the longest individual cooking marathon. The rules stated that she had to cook for a minimum of 200 hours without sleeping or stopping for more than five minutes at a time. Baci cooked dishes such as Jollof rice, Egusi soup, and Eba throughout the marathon. She also had to keep a constant temperature of 60 degrees Celsius on her gas cooker.

Baci spoke about the challenges she faced during the marathon, saying, “It was tough, and I had to keep pushing myself every day. There were times when I thought I couldn’t go on, but I had to remind myself of the goal at hand.”

The event was organized by the Nigerian Chef Association, and it was aimed at promoting Nigerian cuisine and culture. Baci’s achievement has put Nigeria on the world map and has shown that Nigerians have what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Speaking after the announcement, the president of the Nigerian Chef Association, Demilade Adenuga, said, “We are extremely proud of what Hilda has achieved. Her dedication and hard work have paid off, and she has brought glory to our association and our country. We hope that this feat will inspire more young Nigerians to pursue their dreams and believe in themselves.”

Baci’s achievement has been widely celebrated on social media, with many people congratulating her on her remarkable feat. There is no doubt that her name will always be remembered in the Guinness World Records.
