Algiers, Algeria – (African Boulevard News) – Algeria’s journey in the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) came to an end after a 3-0 loss to Morocco, leaving head coach Arezki Remmane feeling dejected. However, he remained optimistic about the future of his team.

“We learn and we will be back better,” said Remmane in a post-match interview. “We gave everything we had, and we are proud of our performance. The boys played with their hearts and showed great character.”

The Algerian team started the tournament in good form, drawing 1-1 with Tunisia before a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ghana. However, their journey came to an end in the quarterfinals against a strong Moroccan side.

“The loss is disappointing, but it is also a learning experience,” Remmane added. “We will take the lessons we learned in this tournament and use them to improve and come back stronger next time.”

The TotalEnergies U17 AFCON, which took place in Morocco from March 13 to March 31, featured some of the best young talent from across the continent. The tournament was won by Cameroon, who beat Guinea 5-3 on penalties in the final after a goalless draw.

Despite the disappointment of their early exit, Algeria can take pride in their performance in the tournament. They showed great potential and promise for the future, and with the right guidance and development, could become a force to be reckoned with in African football.

In the meantime, Remmane and his team will use this experience to reflect, regroup, and work on improving their game.

“We will go back to the drawing board and work hard to ensure that we are better prepared for the next tournament,” he said. “We are young, we are ambitious, and we are hungry to succeed. We will be back.”
